T-Scan III Occlusal Evaluation System
The T-Scan III system is an electronic accumulation of data of when and how you bite. Traditional evaluation used a material very similar to traditional carbon paper – only thinner. The T-Scan III supplies additional information in regards to the relative force of the contact as well as the timing.
For years, dental occlusion had been largely a matter of guesswork for dentists. Articulation paper, waxes, pressure indicator paste, etc. were all dentists had to assess and balance the forces of occlusion. Most of these methods are not sensitive enough to detect simultaneous contact, and none measure both biting time and force.
The information gathered with the sensor is presented to the Doctor in a movie format so that the point that hits first, last and each point in between can be evaluated, as well as how hard each point is contacting. This enables Dr. Wiggins to adjust your bite so that it is as evenly distributed as possible. Implants and full mouth crowns are adjusted so complications associated with an uneven bite on you new restorations are reduced.
